Achievements of Ukraine’s furniture-making industry

1. There are about 300 furniture factories registered in Ukraine

There are about 300 furniture factories registered in Ukraine. [1] The best-known are: ‘MiroMark’, ‘Triumf’, ‘Furniture Factory ‘Meblix’ LLC (‘Meblix’ TM), ‘Zenit’, ‘LORI’, ‘Absolut’, ‘BLONSKI’, ‘ARQDEQ’, ‘KOG design’, ‘DLS’, ‘MebelArt’, ‘LuxMebel’, ‘InStyle Oakland’, ‘Vito Palazzo’, ‘Mebloff Group’, ‘Status Group’.

2. Furniture factories are equipped with newest European machinery

Ukrainian factories are equipped with newest high-quality Italian and German machinery ’HOLZMA’, ‘HOMAG’, ‘BURKLE’, ‘ALTENDORF’, ‘BIESSE’, ‘MORBIDELLI’, ‘VITAP’, ‘SCM GROUP’ (‘Sokme’ factory). [2]

3. High quality of Ukrainian furniture  

Furniture produced by Ukraine’s factories undergoes mandatory certification and is inspected according to sanitary and hygienic norms.

Only natural eco-friendly wood and high-quality plywood and other materials are used for production of furniture. For instance: laminated chipboard, ABS and PVC edges which guarantee long life and excellent appearance of the product and high-quality furniture fittings.

4. Ukraine produces furniture for ‘JYSK’ and ‘IKEA’

For more than 15 years ‘Sokme’ factory has been producing high=quality furniture and has been one of the furniture industry’s leaders not only in Ukraine, but in the ex-USSR (Moldova, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) and European (Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Greece, Slovakia, Hungary) regions as well.

In 2014 the factory started shipping to Germany and Austria, and also started producing furniture for such giants as ‘JYSK’ and ‘IKEA’. [3]

5. Ukrainian furniture is sold to about 90 countries of the world

During 2014-2017 the geography of export shipments has significantly changed, for instance, the share of the CIS countries has shrunk from 69% to 24%, whereas the share of the EU countries has expanded from 22% to 65%. For example, in 2016 Poland alone accounted for 33% exports. Germany followed with 10%, and Russia ended-up with just 4%. [4]

In 2018 Ukraine sold USD625.865 million worth of furniture which surpassed the results of 2017 by 15%. Major buyers were represented by the EU countries (especially by Germany, Great Britain and Latvia), the USA and the CIS. [5]

Experts consider the USA, Germany, Great Britain, France, Canada and Saudi Arabia to be the most perspective markets. [6]

6. Ukraine has successful experience of furniture exports to Canada

In 2018 Ukrainian designer furniture manufacturer ‘Cube44’ successfully entered Canadian market. Apart from Canada the company develops exports to such states as: the USA, Italy, Australia, Romania and Poland. All products are made of Ukrainian materials. [7]

7. Ukrainian factories take regular part in international exhibitions

2018 was marked by participation in ‘Interior Mebel-2018’, ‘KIFF – 2018’ and ‘Canadian Furniture Show 2018’.

Ukrainian pavilion in Canada was formed by such companies as: ‘Cube44’ (living room and office furniture), ‘ADK’ (living and sleeping room furniture), ‘Aqua Rodos’ (bathroom furniture), ‘Merx’ (kitchen, living room and sleeping room furniture), ‘Instyle’ (kitchen furniture), ‘Stalkon’ (office furniture), ‘Blest’ (living room and sleeping room furniture), ‘Snite’, ‘Renessans’ (kids furniture), ‘Kulik System’ (office furniture).
