Production of goods for tourism and recreation in Ukraine 

Ukraine produces broad assortment of goods for tourism and recreation, such as: inflatable boats, all items necessary for fishing, tents, sleeping bags, tourist rugs, tourist clothing, tourist tableware and picnic sets, tourist furniture, braziers, rucksacks, road bags and suitcases, portable charging devices, flashlights and lanterns, binoculars and other optical devices, compasses, carbines, spades, multitools, knives, belts, saws, axes, ropes, paracords, etc.

According to the results of 2019 Ukraine produced: 20,950 pieces of inflatable pleasure and sport boats, 358.6 thousand pieces of men’s and boys’ ski jackets, wind-protective jackets, waistcoats, anoraks, etc., as well as 171.2 thousand pieces of women’s and girls’ ski jackets, wind-protective jackets, anoraks, waistcoats, etc., 1,212.4 thousand pieces of suitcases and road bags, rucksacks, etc., 22.38 thousand pieces of portable electric lanterns operating on dry batteries and rechargeable batteries, etc. [1]

Largest producers

Private Enterprise ‘AUQA-STORM COMPANY’ [2] is one of Ukraine’s leaders in production of inflatable boats, RIBs and runabouts. The company produces: inflatable boats of ‘AQUA STORM’, ‘STORM EVOLUTION’, ‘MAGELLAN’ and ‘LUCKY’ series, boats with inflatable balloons and rigid plastic bottoms (‘RIB AMIGO’) as well as ‘STORM FISH’ roundabouts. The company has diploma by Swiss Institute of Quality Standards (SIQS). The company actively develops its own trade network in Europe and all over the world. 

Shipbuilding Company ‘KOLIBRI’ [3] has since 1995 been a prominent Ukrainian and one of the strongest European producers of small vessels. The company consists of design bureau, two modern shipbuilding factories with total production capacity of 70 thousand boats per annum, and ‘ROTOFORM’ production company. The products by SBC ‘KOLIBRI’ are developed in accordance with the ISO/CD 6185 standards and are made in compliance with the 2013/53/EU Directive. SBC ‘KOLOBRI’ is the only small vessel producer in Ukraine, making practically all accessories and additional equipment for its boats at its own enterprises. The assortment of products is extraordinarily broad, and is comprised of: inflatable and plastic boats, pontoon roundabouts, kayaks, Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs), aqua bikes, accessories and additional equipment for boats.

‘Tramp’ TM [4] is one of Ukraine’s largest producers of equipment and clothing for tourism, fishing, sports and recreation. The company produces tents, sleeping bags, rucksacks, rugs, tourist furniture, tourist tableware, accessories for tourism and outdoor recreation, etc.

‘Ranger’ TM [5] has for over 10 years been producing goods for camping, tourism, outdoor recreation, hunting and fishing. Broad assortment of tourist furniture, bags, rucksacks, thermoses, picnic sets and thermobags, tents, thermal underwear, tourist accessories, etc. is produced here.

‘Тайм Еко’ (Time Eco) TM [6] produces broad assortment of goods for recreation, tourism, fishing and hunting. The assortment comprises everything necessary for barbecue and grill party, picnic sets, thermoses, tourist rugs, tourist furniture, etc. 

‘Commandor’ LLC [7] is a Ukrainian producer of tourist gear and clothes for recreation. The company operates in complete business cycle. It has over 25 years of experience in design and production of tourist equipment. The company produces tourist and sports gear (including tents), as well as equipment for professional expeditions and athletes of extreme sports under ‘Neve’ TM. The brand’s assortment is comprised of: tourist rucksacks, bicycle bags, rugs, trekking sticks, hermobags, flashlights and lanterns, tourist clothes, etc.

‘Terra Incognita’ LLC (‘Terra Incognita’ TM) [8] apart from 18-year experience in producing high-quality tourist gear has almost 20 years of experience in organizing and carrying out trips and expeditions. Company’s products have been tried under the most extreme conditions. The company produces tents, sleeping bags, rucksacks, sleeping pads, tourist furniture, tourist equipment and accessories, etc. 

‘Кемпінг’ TM (Camping) [9] has since 2001 been a Ukrainian producer of a broad range of products for tourism and outdoor recreation. Nowadays the company produces more than 450 commodities, such as: tents, sleeping bags, braziers, tourist rugs, picnic sets, tourist furniture, isothermal products, accessories, etc. 

‘Vitan’ TM [10] is one of Ukraine’s largest producers of tourist furniture. The company produces over 40 types of practical and comfortable collapsible furniture for fishing and tourism, such as: chairs, tables, deck chairs, arm chairs, cots, beds, sets, etc. 

‘Travel Extreme’ [11] is a Ukrainian producer of tourist equipment. Since 1995 the company has been specializing in production of rucksacks, bags, safety systems and diverse accessories for recreation, tourism and resting.  

Subsidiary Company ‘KVAZAR-7’ of PJSC ‘KVAZAR’ [12] is one of Ukraine’s largest producers of PV-products at Ukrainian and East European photovoltaic markets. Factory’s production capacity amounts to about 30 mW per annum. The company produces network solar power plants, solar modules, as well as portable solar power plants and mobile solar charging devices. Portable solar charging devices will come in handy when there is no electric socket nearby, for instance, at hiking, or out-of-town trips. The company produces about 10 types of portable solar charging devices and rechargeable batteries. 

‘SAGITTARIUS’ LLC [13] is one of Ukraine’s largest fishing gear producers. The company has been producing goods for fishing since 1999. Presently the enterprise occupies the area of almost 5,500 square meters. Production of fishing gear is carried out at contemporary equipment for molding fusible alloys, stamping metals, molding and packing plastics, etc. 
The assortment of goods is comprised of the most diverse fishing rods (spinning and carp ones), fishing reels (inertia and non-inertia ones), line, baits (wobbling lures, spinning lures, spinnerbaits, edible silicone baits, light-accumulating silicone baits, silicone non-edible baits, etc.), fishing tackle (weight heads, jig heads, sinkers, carbines, swivels, hooks, leashes, bite indicators, etc.), everything necessary for winter fishing, casings, bags, fishing boxes, accessories, etc.

Ukraine-made goods for tourism and recreation are of high quality and comply with international standards. Ukrainian enterprises are equipped with modern machinery provided by prominent world brands, and only contemporary technologies are used in production.

Quality management system at Ukrainian enterprises is certified in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. Quality control is performed at every stage of production process. [15]

Ukrainian producers’ goods have international certificates of quality: ISO 9001: 2009 and ISO 14001: 2006 (Private Enterprise ‘AUQA-STORM COMPANY’), [16] European certificates iYACHT GmbH, BUREAU VERITAS and INGENIEURBÜRO CAPT. MÜLLER (‘SPORTEX’). [17]

4.
Exported volumes and geography of exports

Ukraine-made goods for tourism and recreation are actively exported. For instance, ‘Terra Incognita’ LLC operates more than 120 representative offices in Ukraine and Moldova, [18] Subsidiary Company ‘KVAZAR-7’ supplies its products to Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, France and other countries, [19]  ‘SAGITTARIUS’ LLC – to Latvia and Russia. [20]

Ukraine-made inflatable boats are exported to about 50 countries of the world. For instance, Private Enterprise ‘AUQA-STORM COMPANY’ exports to more than 15 countries in the CIS and other world and operates its own representative offices in Turkey, Greece, Spain, Romania, Austria, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, Czech Republic and Slovakia. [21]

According to the results of 2019 Ukraine exported 261.33 tons of tents, camping gear, canopies, awnings, etc. for the total amount of USD1.51 million. The CIS countries purchased most – 23.41 tons for the amount of USD1.05 million (Belarus accounted for 112.86 tons and USD481.2 thousand, Russia – for 43.85 tons and USD251.0 thousand), European countries acquired 13.41 tons for the amount of USD381.7 thousand (Poland accounted for 4.07 tons and USD76.1 thousand, Spain – for 2.79 tons and USD63.5 thousand, Norway – for 917.5 kilograms and USD48.1 thousand, Ireland – for 226.0 kilograms and USD35.5 thousand), Asian countries imported 4.20 tons for the amount of USD34.0 thousand (Georgia accounted for 1.59 tons and USD19.2 thousand, Turkey – for 833.5 kilograms and USD11.1 thousand), African countries imported 8.46 tons for the amount of USD16.5 thousand (Congo accounted for USD195.0 kilograms and USD7.8 thousand, Nigeria – for 360.0 kilograms and USD3.9 thousand), the countries of both Americas procured 1.03 tons for the amount of USD23.5 thousand (Canada accounted for 939.8 kilograms and USD18.9 thousand, Panama – for 65.0 kilograms and USD3.5 thousand). 

In 2019 Ukraine also exported 12.46 thousand tons of sleeping bags, beddings, mattresses, etc. for the total amount of USD53.78 million. European countries purchased most – 10.56 thousand tons for the amount of USD50.02 million (Poland accounted for 3.35 thousand tons and USD17.32 million, Germany – for 1.15 thousand tons and USD8.52 million, Italy – for 1.00 thousand tons and USD5.64 million, France – for 976.07 tons and USD3.05 million, Denmark – for 158.81 tons and USD2.93 million, the Netherlands – for 623.99 tons and USD2.56 million, Spain – for 857.52 tons and USD2.52 million, Sweden – for 861.22 tons and USD2.44 million, Romania – for 316.42 tons and USD1.08 million, Latvia – for 310.41 tons and USD949.2 thousand, Austria – for 290.10 tons and USD941.8 thousand, Great Britain – for 346.69 tons and USD928.0 thousand, Bulgaria – for 102.74 tons and USD252.4 thousand, Lithuania – for 73.76 tons and USD195.1 thousand, Croatia – for 18.42 tons and USD155.9 thousand, Belgium – for 30.40 tons and USD151.7 thousand, Slovenia – for 33.42 tons and USD124.7 thousand). The CIS countries acquired 1.78 thousand tons for the amount of USD2.99 million (Belarus accounted for 1.48 thousand tons and USD2.21 million, Moldova – for 206.38 tons and USD552.6 thousand, Russia – for 31.48 tons and USD120.9 thousand, Kazakhstan – for 64.87 tons and USD100.0 thousand), Asian countries imported 88.46 tons for the amount of USD392.0 thousand (Georgia accounted for USD74.78 tons and USD265.4 thousand, Israel – for 9.06 thons and USD92.9 thousand), the countries of both Americas procured 4.50 tons for the amount of USD26.0 thousand (the USA accounted for 4.32 tons and USD22.1 thousand). 

Collapsible furniture for sitting (including tourist one) was exported in 2019 by Ukraine in the amount of 68.55 thousand tons and USD321.65 million. European countries purchased most – 56.21 thousand tons for the amount of USD279.77 million (Poland accounted for 15.50 thousand tons and USD168.44 million, Denmark – for 4.57 thousand tons and USD23.95 million, Germany – for 9.74 thousand tons and USD21.94 million, Belgium – for 7.33 thousand tons and USD19.25 million, Lithuania – for 2.57 thousand tons and USD6.59 million, Austria – for 2.24 thousand tons and USD5.49 million), the CIS countries acquired 11.10 thousand tons for the amount of USD27.75 million (Russia accounted for 5.27 thousand tons and USD13.09 million, Belarus – for 1.94 thousand tons and USD5.69 million, Moldova – for 1.49 thousand tons and USD3.77 million, Azerbaijan – for 1.28 thousand tons and USD2.42 million), Asian countries imported 669.60 tons for the amount of USD2.66 million (Georgia accounted for 514.23 tons and USD1.28 million, India – for 893.0 kilograms and USD810.2 thousand), countries of both Americas procured 558.71 tons for the amount of USD2.23 million (the USA accounted for 157.11 tons and USD1.51 million, Canada – for 343.15 tons and USD594.7 thousand). 

In 2019 Ukraine also exported 786.88 tons of braziers, grills, roasters, electric stoves and electric boilers for the total amount of USD3.31 million. The CIS countries purchased most – 413.47 tons for the amount of USD1.96 million (Moldova accounted for 163.09 tons and USD979.1 thousand, Russia – for 191.56 tons and USD553.0 thousand, Armenia – for 43.79 tons and USD328.8 thousand, Azerbaijan – for 14.87 tons and USD100.1 thousand). European countries acquired 287.79 tons for the amount of USD787.5 thousand (Poland accounted for 143.94 tons and USD362.9 thousand, Lithuania – for 51.44 tons and USD147.5 thousand, Romania – for 51.52 tons and USD136.2 thousand, Hungary – for 28.45 tons and USD82.5 thousand, Czech Republic – for 10.66 tons and USD33.3 thousand, Sweden – for 844.0 kilograms and USD12.5 thousand), Asian countries imported 79.03 tons for the amount of USD538.2 thousand (Georgia accounted for 71.76 tons and USD514.0 thousand, Turkey – for 7.20 tons and USD23.2 thousand), the countries of both Americas procured 6.49 tons for the amount of USD21.9 thousand (Uruguay accounted for 6.40 tons and USD19.6 thousand, the Dominican Republic – for USD44.0 kilograms and USD1.8 thousand). 

According to the results of 2019 Ukraine exported 1.82 thousand tons of inflatable boats for the amount of USD32.74 million. European countries purchased most – 1.42 thousand tons for the amount of USD24.36 million (Norway accounted for 273.31 tons and USD5.84 million, France – for 1.73 thousand tons and USD3.50 million, Great Britain – for 137.07 tons and USD3.32 million, Sweden – for 111.85 tons and USD2.23 million, Poland – for 210.81 tons and USD1.60 million). The CIS countries acquired 64.01 tons for the amount of USD612.6 thousand (Belarus accounted for 46.27 tons and USD391.4 thousand, Kazakhstan – for 15.98 tons and USD204.3 thousand, Russia – for 258.0 kilograms and USD9.7 thousand), Asian countries imported 73.72 tons for the amount of USD1.41 million (Turkey accounted for 57.12 tons and USD1.15 million, Israel – for 8.76 tons and USD158.3 thousand), the countries of both Americas procured 125.48 tons for the amount of USD2.89 million (the USA accounted for 69.21 tons and USD1.77 million, Canada – for 56.26 tons and USD1.12 million), Australia and Oceania – for 136.96 tons and USD3.45 million (Australia accounted for 119.81 tons and USD2.99 million, New Zealand – for 17.14 tons and USD453.0 thousand). 

In 2019 Ukraine also exported 87.56 tons of fishing rods, hooks, hoop-nets and other fishing tackle for the amount of USD1.43 million. European countries purchased most – 34.51 tons for the amount of USD993.4 thousand (Slovakia accounted for 7.15 tons and USD296.5 thousand, Germany – for 10.56 tons and USD175.3 thousand, Lithuania – for 11.02 tons and USD156.3 thousand, Poland – for 2.42 tons and USD84.4 thousand). The CIS countries acquired 51.82 tons for the amount of USD421.4 thousand (Russia accounted for 27.64 tons and USD283.9 thousand, Moldova – for 6.59 tons and USD65.4 thousand, Belarus – for 17.08 tons and USD51.5 thousand, Kazakhstan – for 498.0 kilograms and USD20.6 thousand), Asian countries imported 1.08 tons for the amount of USD24.1 thousand (Georgia accounted for 1.01 tons and USD14.4 thousand, Turkey – for 38.0 kilograms and USD6.4 thousand, Thailand – for 28.0 kilograms and USD3.3 thousand).
