Perestopnitsky Gospel was written in 1556-1561 in the territory of the Great Volyn, in the princely city of Peresh, from where the book got its name.  In those years, there was no genre of fantasy and non-filish, and the main reading was sacred.  That is why the princess Zaslavskaya ordered Archimandrit Gregory and his assistant to Mikhail Xianotsky to make the gospel outlined by the "simple folk language", that is, understandable to anyone.  So there was a perestopnitsky gospel - a handwritten book made on parchment in a single copy, intertwined in dark brown skin and decorated with silver ignorants (naming) with the image of evangelists and crucifixes of Christ in the center.  The journey of the Perestopnitsky Gospel in time and prostrand is an exciting and sometimes detective story.  For almost 450 years, the re-engine gospel passed from hand to hand, from churches to the library.

There are two interesting questions.

1. Why is the Perestopnitsky Gospel call the main book of the country?
Because in 1991, when after the declaration of independent Ukraine, Kravchuk L.M. was preparing for the Innauguration of the First President of Kravchuk, the Constitution of Ukraine was not yet adopted.  And since the Book of the Perestopnitsky Gospel is of majestic sizes and is a real shrine of the Ukrainian people, because its existence proves the presence of the Ukrainian nation in the 16th century, because it is the book of the Perestopnitsky Gospel - became a symbol of spirituality and continuity of Ukrainians from the Middle Ages to this day  .

2. Why can the presidents of Ukraine can't read the book of their own oath?
Because the perestopnitsky gospel is a sample of the Starokrainsky language of literary sources, the origins of which - in the old Slavonic language.  Namely: the lack of vowels in many words, the lack of intervals between the words, the placement of the end of the "smiling" in the verbs before the word, for example, "Xia begins" - begins, etc.  Therefore, to read the perestopnitsky gospel, we released the book "Perestopnitsky Gospel. The origins and modernity", where there are transliteration and edited texts in the modern Ukrainian language.  See in detail the book "Perestopnitsky Gospel. The origins and modernity" in this bookstore.
