Saint George is one of the most beloved Christian saints. The saint was revered as the patron saint of warriors, and the peasants prayed to him for their livestock. Great Martyr George the Victorious was a Roman military leader. During the years of Emperor Diocletian's persecution of Christians, he declared himself a Christian and voluntarily underwent monstrous tortures. But the Angel of God stood next to him and, as the life of the saint tells, miraculously healed his wounds.  Countless times he came to the aid of those in need of his protection. His most famous posthumous miracle was the deliverance of the Libyan princess Elizabeth from the serpent. Below is a signature in Church Slavonic: “The Miracle of St. George about the serpent."

On the back there is a figure of a lion woven into a floral pattern. In the Holy Scriptures, the lion appears to be a symbol of people distinguished by their special strength, power and might, and the Divine Word is likened to the lion’s roar. Floral ornament is an ancient Christian symbol of heaven. A prayer to St. George is written in a circle: “Protect everything, George, with the weapon of the Cross, the hope of faith, the love of sovereignty.”
