On the front side there is an image of the icon "Resurrection - Descent into Hell" in a three-figure version. In the center, on the broken gates of hell, stands the Savior. In his left hand, like an invincible weapon, He holds an eight-pointed cross, and gives his right hand to the kneeling Adam. To the left of Christ, in prayer, is Eve.
The host of the righteous, usually surrounding Adam and Eve, and other details showing the triumph and greatness of the Easter holiday, which can be seen on large temple icons, are absent here. In this reading, the icon acquires a personal orientation. The hand of the Savior, extended to our first parents, is given to us, to everyone who is ready to follow Christ.
Such compositions of the Resurrection were widely used by Byzantine jewelers when creating individual shrines. On the head of the cross there is a Greek columnar inscription +H ANASTASIS (Resurrection, N is a feminine article).
On the reverse side in the center there is a round medallion with a four-pointed cross and the inscription ІС ХС NIKA, meaning “Jesus Christ is the winner.” This is the most ancient inscription on crosses, installed by Emperor Constantine. It complements the image of the cross on the prosphora and is present on many Orthodox pectoral crosses. Along the circumference of the medallion there is a protective inscription: We bow to your Cross, O Lord, and glorify your Holy Resurrection.
