The pectoral cross with the images of the Lord Pantocrator and the saints Moses Murin and the martyr Boniface standing before Him on the front side and the icon of the Mother of God “Inexhaustible Chalice” on the back is intended for special help and protection of people suffering from alcohol, drug, gaming and other addictions. The Lord Almighty is the main image on the cross. He, the arbiter of human destinies, holds the Book of Life in his hands. Woe to those, says the holy Apostle John, whose name is not in it: God’s retribution will befall them. “Do not be deceived,” says the Apostle Paul, “neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor wicked people, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous people, neither drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” It is impossible for a person to free himself from the networks of sin. With all his heart, with all his soul, he must wish this and humbly ask for help from God. The saints are his intercessors and intercessors for him before God. The Hieromartyr Moses Murin and the Martyr Boniface came to holiness from great sins, so the Lord gave them special grace to help repentant sinners get rid of drunkenness and fornication. On the back of the cross is the famous miraculous icon “The Inexhaustible Chalice”. She appeared in the Serpukhov Vladychny Monastery in 1787 to a drunken retired soldier whose legs were paralyzed from drunkenness. In a dream, the soldier saw the builder of this monastery, Elder Varlaam, who showed him where to find the icon. The soldier literally crawled to the monastery and received complete healing. The day of the repose of St. Varlaam, May 18, became the day of church-wide celebration of the miraculous icon. In 1919, the monastery was closed, and the “Inexhaustible Chalice” icon was lost. In 1993, a copy of it was written in the Serpukhov Vysotsky Monastery, and in 1995, based on an old photograph, the icon was recreated in the revived Serpukhov Women’s Monastery. The “Inexhaustible Chalice” icon works miracles again. It is famous for the rapid healing of the ailments of alcoholism, drug addiction, smoking and the resolution of housing problems. In monasteries, a record of miracles performed from the image is kept. The inexhaustible Chalice of heavenly help and mercy is available to everyone in need. “Most Holy Theotokos, save us,” is written around the icon.
