The central image of the front part of the pectoral cross depicts the Image of the Savior Not Made by Hands, or the Holy Ubrus (towel). It is one of the greatest shrines of the Christian world and protective symbols of Orthodoxy. According to Tradition, it was miraculously imprinted on a piece of linen towel with which the Lord wiped his face after washing.

On both sides of Christ stands the Most Holy Theotokos and the holy prophet John the Baptist, the Forerunner of the Lord, the main defenders and petitioners for people before God. Below is St. Nicholas, one of the most revered saints of Orthodoxy.

On the back of the cross is the image of Archangel Michael. The mighty Archangel Michael is revered as a formidable enemy of evil, a protector of man from evil forces, protecting souls from demonic attacks. Therefore, he was often depicted on pectoral crosses. Archangel Michael, the most powerful of the angels. It was he who overthrew the devil and stood at the head of the angels to fight the demonic forces. His name means “Who is God?”, since he is the most powerful and formidable enemy of evil.

Orthodoxy reveres Archangel Michael as a defender of the faith, a fighter against heresies and all evil. But the archangel fights not only for the entire Church. He also fights irreconcilably for the single human soul. Therefore, they pray to Archangel Michael for the deceased, for those who have gone to war, those in difficult life situations, and those simply lost.
