Orthodox silver cross "Crucifixion" with blackening 13357 Onyx

On the front side of pectoral crosses the Crucifixion is most often depicted, because Jesus Christ made this instrument of execution an instrument of victory over sin and death. With His suffering He atoned for the sins of mankind, having died and descended into hell, defeated Satan, freed the souls of the righteous from eternal death and opened the heavenly gates of paradise for them. The sacrifice of Christ made salvation possible for every person. Therefore, on the back of this cross there is a prayer doxology written in script: “Christ lifts me up, we crucify, Christ co-raises me, we kill me.”

On both sides of Christ are depicted the instruments of His passion: a cane with a sponge and a spear. Behind is the Jerusalem Wall. On icons it marks the place of execution and symbolizes Heavenly Jerusalem, the path to which was opened for humanity through Golgotha.
