On the front side of the cross there is depicted the Crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ with the Most Holy Theotokos and Equal Apostles standing before the Cross. Mary Magdalene, Apostle John the Theologian and martyr. Longinus Sotnik. This is the Savior’s inner circle - the Mother and beloved disciples, who alone did not abandon the Lord during His suffering on the cross. Only Longinus the centurion did not belong to their number, but was one of the Savior’s tormentors. But seeing the terrible suffering of the sinless righteous man, amazed at the great signs that shook the heavens during the execution, he believed that Christ is the true God, confessed Him, and was killed by the Jews.

On both sides, along the edges of the crossbars, there are images of two more disciples of Christ - the supreme apostles Peter and Paul. Above the head of the Savior is the icon of the Holy Trinity. This is an image of the Eternal Council, at which it was decided to incarnate God the Son, the Second Person of the Trinity, to atone for the sins of lost humanity, alienated from God. Below is Archangel Michael blowing his horn. This is the image of the Heavenly forces of the Terrible Voivode, who convenes his armies to fight all evil spirits, the spirits of evil.
