The icon of Christ occupies a central place on the front side of any pectoral cross. Next to Him are the saints praying to Him. They are given special grace to help people in illness and everyday adversity, bringing them to the Kingdom of Heaven.

At the top, above the icon of Christ, is the image of the most beloved saint in Rus', St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, bishop of the Lycian city of Myra in Asia Minor. During his lifetime, the saint tamed storms, healed the sick, predicted the future, and more than once appeared hundreds of kilometers away to those in need of his help.

On the right, left and below are depicted the great Russian holy wonderworkers - St. Alexander Svirsky (left), Rev. Seraphim of Sarov and St. right John of Kronstadt (below).

The central part of the cross is occupied by one of the most revered icons of the Blessed Virgin Mary - the Kazan Icon, a shrine of Russia not made by hands. The miracles from this icon are innumerable: help in war, in illness, in family life.

Around the Mother of God are images of holy women who dedicated their lives to the Lord. Above and below are icons of Equal-to-the-Apostles Nina and Olga. The Church equated the feat of these saints with the acts of the apostles, the closest disciples of Christ. Young Nina came from distant Palestine to Georgia to tell about Christ to the people in whose land His tunic was kept. And her preaching changed the history of the peoples of the Caucasus. 

On the left is the image of the martyr Tatiana, deaconess. Having renounced wealth and comfort, through her martyrdom the saint managed to convert even her own executioners to Christ. 

On the right is the icon of the blessed Matrona, the saint of God. Blind from birth, the saint began to prophesy and heal at the age of seven. Until the end of her life, every day she received about forty people who needed her help, and spent her nights in prayer.
