The image of Christ on the front side symbolically reveals the Lord as the arbiter of human destinies, the omnipotent and omnipotent God. He holds in his hands the Book of Life, in which each person has his own page. Next to Christ are saints, prayer books and intercessors before Him for people.

Below is an image of St. Demetrius of Rostov, famous for his extraordinary humility, learned mind and literary talent, which he devoted entirely to God.
To the right and left of the icon of the Savior are images of Byzantine saints - Gregory Palamas and Dionysius the Areopagite. Saint Gregory Palamas, Archbishop of Thessalonica, spent many years on Mount Athos in the secluded monastery of St. Savva. Here he wrote many works that can be called the theology of Orthodox holiness and asceticism. The saint also said many inspired words about the Most Holy Theotokos, Whom he revered as the only one who had reached the highest degree of Godlikeness and embodied all the images of holiness.
Hieromartyr Dionysius the Areopagite was an Athenian converted to Christianity by the Apostle Paul. He was first a priest and then a bishop in his hometown. The Apostle John the Theologian introduced the saint into the house of the Most Holy Theotokos and left Her inspired description, which has survived to this day. Later, together with the apostles, he was present at the Dormition of the Mother of God. 
The reverse side of the cross, like the front side, is decorated with images of saints, marked by special veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At the top is an icon of the Athonite elder Silouan, who, reflecting on the spiritual feat of the Mother of God, once asked God: “Has She really never sinned?” - and received the answer: “Even in my thoughts.” On the left is St. Seraphim of Sarov. The Mother of God appeared to him several times, talked with him and called him “My beloved.” On the right and below are princes Andrei Bogolyubsky and Dmitry Donskoy, who fought under the cover of icons of the Virgin Mary. The noble Prince Andrei was the first to take the Vladimir Icon on a campaign against the Volga Bulgars and, in honor of the victory over them, established the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God in Rus'. Saint Prince Dimitri continued this tradition, going out to the Tatars on the Kulikovo Field with the Don Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.
