Silver Orthodox Cross "Savior Not Made by Hands. St. Seraphim of Sarov. Mother of God "Joy of All Joys"

The pectoral cross is four-pointed in shape, with extensions at the top and bottom of the vertical beam, imitating an eight-pointed cross. The upper end of the beam forms a square, and the lower one is pointed, thereby showing the cross as a spiritual sword.

The front side of the cross depicts the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ against the backdrop of the Jerusalem wall. In the square mark above the Crucifixion there is a miraculous image of the Savior. In addition to its traditional meaning on the pectoral cross to show Christ as the head of the Heavenly Church and to signify His victory over hell and death, the Image Not Made by Hands establishes a connection with Saint Seraphim of Sarov, being the prayer icon of the elder.

The second icon of the Venerable One, the Mother of God of Tenderness, is placed in the upper square on the reverse side of the cross. Under the icon of the Mother of God, where on the front side is the image of the Crucified Christ, the Monk Seraphim is depicted praying on a stone. In the lower, pointed part of the cross are the words of the publican’s prayer: God be merciful to me, a sinner, with which the holy elder prayed. Thus, the spiritual feat of the Venerable Seraphim of Sarov is compared with the crucifixion of the Savior according to the words of the Apostle and the elder himself: “Even though we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.”

The entire composition of the cross is crowned, combining the subjects of the front and back sides, a symbol of fiery Divine love and selfless service to the Lord - the image of a six-winged seraphim. On our sinful land, Saint Seraphim of Sarov was in every way similar to his namesake angel, and after his death he continues his service together with the Heavenly seraphim at the throne of the Most High, being an intercessor and intercessor for the human race, which prayerfully calls upon him.
